Our Club is run by volunteers. The more help we have, the better then program for the students. Please consider how your gifts can best serve this MTB community.
Coaching: Coaches provide guidance with instruction with a focus on safety, fun, and learning. There are 3 levels of licensing for coaches depending on the training received. Having a large pool of coaches is important to provide proper coach:rider ratios at practice, trail rides, and races. (It's also the only way a parent can ride with their child. What other school sport allows parent participation?)
Race Weekend Snack Coordinator/Assistance: Racing mountain bikes burns a lot of energy so we like to have snacks available at the Team tent. Help organizing the process to ensure snacks are bought and provided to the Team is a great help to the coaches.
Race Weekend Dinner Coordinator: Building team camaraderie off the bike is important and breaking bread together is a great way to do that. Finding a place for a Team Dinner on Saturday nights on race weekends is super helpful. This would include collecting RSVP's and making reservations if necessary or creating a Sign Up Genius for a Team Cookout style dineer.
Family Tent Host: Only Coaches and Riders are allowed in Pit Zone on Race Weekend. So, having a tent for parents and family members to gather is a great help in providing a space to gather, socialize, take breaks between races, and store extra gear. Making sure a canopy tent is set up and communicating the location in the in field will help families find where they can set up their lawn chairs.
Sponsor Relations: Each of our Sponsors receive benefits for their donation. It is critical that we make sure each sponsor is receiving their benefits, including making sure they are tagged in social media posts, receive periodic team updates, are invited to certain team events (ie:Local Dirt and Team Banquet). This position would work with the Team Director and Head Coach with communications to Sponsors.
GRiT Ride Coordinator: NICA has a goal of increasing female ridership. Their GRiT progam allows an opportunity for the girls to all ride together for fun. PICL provides a GRiT ride at races. This point person for our female riders woould keep aprised of the details of when and where the ride starts and makes sure riders are ready to go. Also, organizing and riding with our Team's girls on a local ride, perhaps with anotehr team or two would be a great benefit.
Local Dirt Planning Committee: Each year, we organize a Local Dirt Event (Punktoberfest) where we race a couple local teams. This is a fun day,, but requires lots of planning.
Social Media: The Team has an Instagram and Facebook account. While a few of us post, it's always nice to have more content added, especially on a consistent basis. This position would not be the sole provider, but rather monitor and supplement content.
Fundraising: This volunteer would help with locating potential sponsors, or maybe even organize a possible team fundraiser. The more outside funding we can find, the less we need to place the costs of the team directly on our families.
Team Trailer Towing: Since one coach can't make every event, it's important to have someone that keeps track of the Team Trailer and who can tow it to and from each practice and race. It's a 6x10 single axle, 4-pin trailer. Just about any V-6 vehicle can tow it.
Equipment Manager: With gear coming out of and into the Trailer at practices and races, this person would make sure equipment is being put away properly into the trailer and not look like a teen's bedroom floor. This person would also help make sure equipment is accounted for and if anything needs repair or replacement, that it gets communicated and taken care of.
Teen Trail Corps: Another NICA program, this is where we give back to the trails we ride and hel with the maintennace and upkeep of area trails. This person keeps an eye on PICL and SAMBA trail maintenance events, works with the Director and Head Coach to communicate a scheduled event to the team and help keep track of hours each rider volunteers.
Apparel and Team Jerseys: This helper makes sure that each rider has submitted their selection and size for Team Jerseys before placing the order with our manufacturer. This person would also help in updating our Team Storefront with Travel Champs, and possibly pick up orders and deleiver to practice.
Early Season Cookout: A great way for the team to get to know each other and kick off the Seaosn, we have a gathering with food early in the season or pre-season. This person would organize this event, usually pot luck, including a camp fire.
Mid Season Team Activity: Taking a break from the bike mid season is a great way to reflect on the progress made at practices, talk about the upcoming races, and just hang out as families. This can be a simple event around the camp fire or could be a more organized event. This would be near the end of August before school starts.
End of Season Banquet: Recognizing the efforts and hard work put in by our riders as well as recognizing our coaches and sponsors requires volunteers to plan and organize this important celebration(and final team event of the season).
End of Season Team Keepsakes: This volunteer comes up with ideas, makes, or orders keepsakes for the Team.
Senior Recognition Awards: It's always a special time to wish our Seniors well, and we always enjoying sending them off with a great keepsake for their time on the Team. Having a creative person to plan, design, make, or order this special award is a huge help.
